As your institutional representative to APSA, I have been asked to pass this along. I will mention it at today's meeting as well. You can read the email below, but basically this is a survey to get feedback for the direction APSA wants to pursue.

Our annual retreat went well with a great dinner paired with good wine at Elkin Creek Winery. Check out the photos.

Planning begins soon for next year, please submit your preferences. Ideas include: Murder mystery night at Graylyn, travel into the mountains for the weekend, and white water rafting.

AMA Seed Grant Research Program

These grants are awarded to medical students, residents, and physician fellows to help fund small basic science, applied, or clinical research projects. While not intended to be the sole source of your funding, they will help offset costs for supplies and lab equipment in the initial stages of a project. At one point I read you are only able to be awarded the grant once in a lifetime, so choose wisely when you apply for this. It may be better to use during residency when research money is sparce, but you have an idea for a project to try.

Summary of the event:

• Students arrived Friday night, Dinner at Fat Tony's with drinks at Rum Runners
  • Some students reported rare ailment termed "Fat Tony's revenge."
• Saturday meeting began with Grant Writing intro by Drs. Paul Laurienti and "Cash" McCall
• Student Presentations by: Kim Blish, Matt Schindler, Lan Coffman, & Eric Hudgins
• Dinner on the ocean-front patio
• Late night "liver rounds" presented on the beach
